I joined Shorinjiryu Kenryukan in 1983.
After 4 years of diligent study, I received my black belt in October of 1987.
I honestly can’t say that I have tried any other form of martial arts, but I have worked out with black belts from other styles. In those workouts, I realized that Shorinjinryu has aspects that are found in many other styles. And some that are found no where else.
I’ve been teaching since approximately 1992, but I never stopped learning. Whether it’s from fellow black belts, instructors, or students (both kids and adults) I’m constantly picking up tidbits of knowledge that keeps me engaged and growing mentally.
